The Lolcat Craze!

Okay, I admit it. I'm addicted to the Internet phenomenon, "lolcats." People take pictures of their cats and add what's quickily becoming known as "kitty pidgin" captions to them, such as "I'm in ur komputr, stealin' ur Internets." Or this one to the left, which was recently posted on the site called icanhascheezburger.com. Bwhahahahahaha!

Ahem, anyway. Where was I? Oh yeah...why I find them funny, I don't know. Well, I guess it's because I own some "kittehs of mah own" one of which provides plenty of lolcat entertainment (the ginger cat posted in the pic at the top of my blog). I have the pictures, but I am not the greatest captioner in the world, I must admit. The one that took me about a month to come up with and submit to icanhascheezburger.com was never posted. Bummer!

Mehbe sumday, I will lurn to make good kitteh pidgin and gets mah piktures posted...but until then I will just enjoy the clever captions I see everyday, and get my laughs when I need them the most. Long live lolcats!

CatTV

My cats have been having a lot of CatTV, in full HDTV, with surround sound -- that is, my open sliding glass door, and the two nests sparrows are inhabiting in the roof of my patio. So now, I have to be sure to keep the window blinds open elsewhere, or else find them all bent out of shape. Actually, that's why I've just started leaving them open, because one day, one set of them had been massacred while I was at work. I can only imagine what Valencia (I know it was her...Meggie doesn't jump up in windows, for whatever reason) saw that made her jump through the blinds (and how she got herself out of them). Just wish I'd been there with my camera, as I'm sure it was a camera-worthy moment.

My Cat's Sizzling Personality

My orange cat (or ginger cat, as they're sometimes known -- see the pic at the top of this page) has a penchant for chewing on things, namely shoes and electrical cords. Sometimes, she acts more like a dog than a cat in that respect. One time, my phone didn't ring for days, and later I found out why -- she had chewed through the power cord to my one cordless phone. She also chewed through my mouse and keyboard cords (I am now wireless, as a result). She stopped doing that for a bit...but every now and then, I'll find a chewed up cord, and I'll have to do some power supply repair (thank goodness for electrical tape!). Seriously...it's annoying, and I don't know what to do about it (coating the cords with hot pepper stuff has been suggested...but I can see myself touching the cord and rubbing my eyes...OW!). My chewed up shoes are sort of easy to replace (ok, not really), but finding AC power supplies is hard...probably because I don't know where to look. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm getting near my wit's end.

The Neverending Search for Quality Pet Food

My poor kitty, Valencia, has feline IBD (inflammatory bowel disease). I've narrowed it down to a grain allergy she has. She cannot tolerate any grain whatsoever...or any dry cat food, even the ones that say they have no grain in them. It's all very frustrating. I'm always on the lookout for a pet supplies place that carries Natural Balance wet food, which she absolutely loves. My local pet food place is going to be discontinuing it, so I'll have to order it online (or from them...but I have no idea for how much).

Big, Puppy Dog Eyes Always Get Me

You know those dog commercials that have been running lately, the ones that show cute little fluffy mutts, with big, brown puppy dog eyes in pounds, with voiceovers saying, "I know I can fetch, I know I can rollover and play, but I don't know why I'm in here." Seriously, whoever came up with that ad campaign knows there are folks like me who are total saps, and have to resist the temptation to run to the nearest shelter and get ourselves a dog.

I mean, I'd love a dog...but I live in a 1 bedroom apartment with two older cats. Not only is it already too crowded, but I don't think that'd go over very well with the kitties (you can see them in the photo posted at the top of this blog). That, and I don't have any room for dog supplies. You know, the dog food, the leash, the bath stuff, etc. all take up a lot of room that I don't have. Nor can I afford the costs of a dog. *sigh* So, whenever that commercial comes on, I mute the TV, change the channel, whatever...because really, I am going to have to start chaining myself to something to keep me away from shelters, lest I get a dog that I just can't have right now. Bummer.
